| O&B Recruitment Ltd part of the O'Neill & Brennan Group are currently hiring for a Technologist Operational Support. Our Client is one of Europe's leading producers of nutritional products and are based in Limerick. Reporting to the Senior Technologist, New Product Development the role purpose is to assist in product development/improvement projects, in compliance with Quality system and sustainable manufacture requirements including optimisation of formulations and manufacturing processes. Main responsibilities include: oProvide the necessary technical support to the product manufacturing team, ensuring sustainable manufacture of nutritional products across the client's network. Providing technical applications support for manufacture. oCollaborate with the manufacturing team to identify, document, investigate and remedy the cause of product non-conformance. Dealing with technical issues related to product manufacture. Complete and document Technical Support investigations. oOptimisation of formulations for existing products and manufacturing processes. oAssist in product development/improvement projects, in compliance with quality system requirements. Assist in the technology transfer of new products from the pilot plant or other sites in compliance with site procedures. Optimise the use of the Performance Excellence process with in clients manufacturing facilities. oDrive for results and encourage an atmosphere of excellence in achieving robust and sustainable manufacture of clients products. oStatistical analysis of analytical data and circulate information, highlighting any issues identified. Assist in the periodic review of both process control and finished product data and critically review of analytical data. oIdentify and implement cost reductions that do not adversely impact product quality. oBring attention to risks in production that might have an adverse effect on product quality and/or safety. oTake on new product briefs and from this develop products that are cost effective, production friendly. This role will involve direct liaison with all internal departments to co ordinate and drive the completion of all activities in the development process from brief through to launch and full production. oCarry out detailed scientific research on related topics. Research latest innovative food trends and technical developments oUnderstanding of HACCP and food legislative requirements. oAbility to organise, manage and document plant trials. oTo cultivate and maintain a level of technical excellence appropriate for a world class technical manufacturing operation. Encourage an atmosphere of involvement, open communication and effective teamwork. oRecording of observations and experimental data in a systematic and professional manner. oCommunicating with other functions within the organisation and external suppliers. Relate information in the form of presentations to other team members and management. oTravel to any of the client or Third-Party manufacturing sites to oversee technology transfer and trouble shooting initiatives. Attendance at headquarters for meetings, attendance at various scientific meetings or seminars and dissemination of findings to senior R&D management. oAny other task as requested by Product Development Manager Supervision of others: The technologist may be required to supervise senior technicians or operators as required. Attention and concentration: A high degree of attention to detail and ability to concentrate for long periods is critical to this position. Errors made in processing of formulas or in thermal process calculations, inappropriate evaluation of prototype equipment or presentation of erroneous data to management could have very serious consequences for client, i.e., delay in new process introduction or new product launches. In-complete research or misinterpretation of data could lead to potentially advantageous projects not reaching commercialisation. Working conditions: Process - office conditions (50-60%) with appropriate time to be spent on ‘hands-on' activities in the Pilot Plant, MTL, and production sites, A 42-hour working week applies; however, it may be necessary to work outside normal working hours, or at weekends. The technologist will be expected to travel to international manufacturing plants from time to time. Education: A Bachelors Degree (Hons.) or equivalent in Food Science and Technology, Dairy Science or Food Engineering, together with a relevant post-graduate qualification, i.e., MSc. or Ph.D. Experience: A minimum of two years manufacturing or post – graduate experience in an R & D environment, i.e., industrial R&D department, or university, preferably in the area of food technology, food science or food engineering. Training: Six months on the job training at the client premises in Ireland. The Technologist- Operations Support is required to develop a thorough understanding of (a) latest developments in manufacturing technology and infant nutrition, (b) the complete range of client product (Client vs. Competitors) and (c) develop relationships with relevant expert groups (internal and external) to fulfil job expectations.
