| My client a large Public Sector orgnisation based in Central Scotland is looking for a Financial Accountant for an immediate start. This is an interim contract for 3-6 months with the potential of going permanent for the successful individual. You must be CCAB Qualified with Financial Accounting experience gained in the Public Sector. You will be required to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory requirements, professional standards and best practice to meet the requirements of the organisations business. •Ensure that the organisation deliver unqualified annual accounts as directed by the Scottish Government •Preparation of whole government accounts •Complete VAT returns •Complete Corporate Tax returns •Advise the organisation on how to implement changes in regulatory or legislative requirements, ranging from accounting practice to VAT and PAYE To contribute to the maintenance and development of sound and accurate financial management and reporting systems for the organisation that enable effective financial performance management. •Establish and maintain systems to ensure that finance effectively monitors and reports on key performance objectives, its monthly reporting requirements, SLAs and other requirements •Benchmark costs and outcomes when appropriate making suitable recommendations on how finance may be able to improve its services and/or generate additional income To provide for the development and maintenance of the costing and pricing framework for the organisation, in support of the various charging schemes. •Work with colleagues in Directorates to understand the effect of their activities on pricing •Provide support to colleagues in consulting with key stakeholders on a regular basis •Support the review of charging schemes as required To support, manage and develop the organisations finance team and ensure appropriate skills and finance best practice are available. •Develop clear short tem and longer tem objectives that support the organisations strategic outcomes •Review staff personal development performance against plans and take remedial actions as necessary •Ensure that qualified staff are supported to undertake Continuous Professional Development as required by their accounting body, and that all staff are encouraged to further develop their skills and knowledge •Provide finance development for non finance staff To assist in the provision of financial support services needed by the organisation to meet its objectives •Create complex finance models to support scenario planning for the business – financial planning, pay remit etc •To assess financial provision requirements for licensees •Liaise with finance customers and stakeholders as required •To provide finance support to projects as required If you are interested in this vacancy please email your CV to craig.youngson@badenochandclark.com or call Craig Youngson on 0131 225 3130.
