| A six-eight month role in one of the Lothians' top homeless charities has arisen for a Homeless Support Worker. A challenging role in the field of Supporting People and Homelessness, our client is looking for candidates with a minimum of two year's experience with their own transport, who have had experience of dealing with homeless people with mental health problems, learning difficulties and or alcohol / drug abuse problems. Prospective applicants will be required to do the following: •Offer advice on welfare / benefits issues, •Assist in re-housing, temp accommodation or hostel provision, •Help the promotion of independent living, •Teach budgeting and lifestyle skills, •Offer advocacy support and liaise with external support agencies, •Streetwork, often alone in a multiple service user environment. All applicants must have a recent valid enhanced Disclosure Scotland check and be available to start on within 2 to 3 weeks. This organisation offers a supportive team environment and is often viewed as the market leader in this field, offering services to some 300 service users, often in crisis, across Scotland. Our client will want to interview you and see how you react and manage risk, deliver services to people who are often in crisis and how well you are able to manage a boundaried workload, often working alone. Although the role is initially for six months or so, there may be potential for an extension, or indeed permanent work.
