Job Vacancy Fashion Buyer with Excel Recruitment

Company Description: Our client is one of Irelands leading department stores. The store offers a comprehensive selection of merchandise from fashion to furniture, from footwear to sportswear, from kitchenware to electrical goods, from Childrenswear to corporate clothing. This is an opportunity to work in a busy dynamic buying department.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, Develop and execute the Brand or product selection or development/ Pre-season planning of the buy
• Negotiate product prices, discount terms and transport arrangements for merchandise 
• Set mark-up rates, markdown rates and selling prices for the merchandise in order to achieve gross margin targets in line with budgets.
• Source new products, select merchandise assortments consistent with the strategy of the store and place orders with suppliers
• Control purchasing to targets agreed in merchandise budgets
• Product presentation to the Company, store operations and the Press where applicable
• Ensure that all product details within the merchandise management system is accurate and resolve any discrepancies where necessary
• Ensure that the necessary Supplier information is passed to finance for approval and setting-up on the system
• Development of strategic promotions together with the buying team and marketing
• Assessment and realization of tactical (markdown) promotions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The buyer should have a sound knowledge of the range of merchandise from within the ladies or men's fashion markets

Knowledge of the principles and methods for showing, promoting and selling promoting products or services

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures relevant to the buying and budgeting processes

Excellent communications skills

Good numeric and literacy skills

Demonstrated planning and organizational skills

Good IT skills including MS office products

Working knowledge of basic accounts and budgeting

This position requires retail fashion buying experience gained in Branded or High Volume Fashion
