Our client is a leading Pharmacy group with stores nationwide. The company continues to go from strength to strength and open more stores whilst increasing retail sales volume from its existing business. Due to Growth the company has found the need to develop their head office and support functions to capitalise on this growth. Our client now seeks a dynamic individual to manage the medicine & OTC buying function. Retail Buying experience is essential for this role, ideally gained in an FMCG environment such as food or non food. Buying experience in this product category is not essential Key Responsibilities: - Develop relationships with key decision makers in all OTC and Ethical Suppliers (wholesalers, PI companies, generics, OTC suppliers, Pharmaceutical companies) companies with whom we do business
- Negotiate trading terms with all OTC and Ethical suppliers and circulate a monthly purchasing list to stores by email to advise what lines to source where
- Maintain UD Access Orders and check that they are being applied to all accounts
- Negotiate terms, secure stock and manage logistics, invoicing and credit management of all trading activity
- Manage relationships with trading partners
- Secure volume deals and manage distribution into shops, in line with previous usage
- Manage receipt, allotting & logistics for stock
- Manage relations with in-store Managers & Pharmacists
- Measure, from dispensing system, compliance with preferred generic, PI's and wholesale ordering and provide this information in an easy report format on a monthly basis to senior Management and Store Managers/Pharmacists. The buyer will be jointly responsible with Operations to ensure that stores are reaching the GP targets in the dispensary.
- Benchmark preferred supplier compliance, generic and PI purchases participation, and set targets for these at each store and monitor and feedback on performance levels
- Provide relevant support for company initiatives to maximise generic participation
- Work with category manager to maximise OTC Gross profit
- Recommend and implement price-bands for OTC products
- Work with company's Clinical Services Department on initiatives to increase product demand. The Buyer will take a lead role in commercial dealings with suppliers which are linked to service initiatives in store to ensure that we achieve full benefit from our staff involvement in store in these initiatives.
Candidate Profile - Confident, outgoing professional buyer, who has strong numeric ability and analytical skills, is an experienced negotiator and is capable of developing good working relationships at a personal level with key suppliers and customers
- Candidates will be highly driven individuals with exceptional communication skills and will have at least Three years buying experience
- The role involves a significant amount of margin, cost and usage analysis so a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office and Excel is required
