Our client is a privately owned, Regional Contractor that has been in business over 50yrs.

As principal contractor they deliver a range of projects with values from £1-20m across building projects inc. D&B Residential, Commercial, Offices and Industrial markets. This entails providing design and build, construction management and other bespoke construction services for both public and private customers.

What will you be doing?

Working directly under the Construction Director you will be responsible for the financial and operational aspects of a wide range of projects working closely with the site based Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers.

In particular, this role involves:

Directly assisting and supporting the Construction Director and other members of the team as and when required.
Take responsibility for the CVR’s and overall financial and operational procedures, leading the valuations process, developing initial budgets and agreeing detailed cost plans with the Estimator.
Supporting and managing site based and office teams ensuring compliance with company policy and procedures.
Suggesting systems for team appraisals as well advising on product selection, specifications and sub-contractors. Inc, assisting with implementing new processes and procedures.
Monitoring tender schedules, procurement, programmes, health & Safety and overseeing the project information flow and methods.
Participating in meetings with the design team and site teams.
Liaising with the accounts team on everything from client invoices through to final account reconciliations and retention releases.
Managing the change process throughout the projects.
Attending senior management meetings and providing monthly reports on each project to the Directors.What do you need to bring:

A recognised qualification in construction MCIOB / RICS desirable.
Experienced in RIBA Stages and processes desirable but not essential.
Project Management experience but not essential.
Must be commercially aware and have good sound knowledge of project/operational delivery.
Quantity Surveying/Commercial background required.
Main contractor background required.
Strong commercial awareness – you know how to make profit whilst maintaining strong client relationships, delivering quality and staying fully aligned to company values.
Operational awareness – you know how to oversee the delivery of projects and understand the design and build process inc, managing site teams and monitoring health and safety requirements.
A good understanding and knowledge of the JCT forms of contract.
Experience in administrating the contract mechanisms (Clauses, etc)
Knowledge of the design process from concept design to project completion.

What are we looking for:

A dynamic individual who can carry out this ‘dual role’ based around full commercial awareness with good sound operational knowledge and experience as the role requires

Salary: £70000 – £80000/annum
