Location: Dunstable, Bedfordshire (Hybrid working with working in office 2 days a week)

The Hotel Systems Platform manager has to support the outcome with IT colleagues that the new systems and technology is successfully managed and works seamlessly across the newly created function. The role will have line management responsibility.

This role manages the group and supports the outcomes that has specific responsibility for building or configuring, maintaining, or enhancing, and eventually decommissioning application components throughout the life cycle

What you’ll be doing:

Lead Hotel Systems Platforms Technical Operations Team
In collaboration with IT colleagues support the development of the strategic run/change agenda and prioritised roadmap for the applications and associated services. Works with the business to define with the Business & IT Portfolio to build out the Whitbread vision for the strategic business change roadmap (reflecting the team’s ownership of the planned platform changes).
Manage team members in line with Whitbread policies and procedures, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organisation, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs, skills gaps, and aid retention of staff.
Engage with senior IT functions to ensure product and technical alignment to architecture strategy.
Contribute to the governance processes to arrive at a prioritised set of measurable business outcomes that IT and Hotel Operations Teams and virtual maintenance must support.
Manages the team to ensure actions are initiated, by systems development staff or software suppliers, on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements.
Manages the team to ensure acceptance of new releases of applications software from systems development staff or software suppliers.
Day-to-day management, including staffing, budgeting, and other relevant management functions, and is required to hold delivery teams accountable for optimising the cost, risk, and value of maintenance activities. Work with Finance business partners to the run budget for each financial Year and review the budget vs actuals on a monthly basis, ensuring alignment to support key Finance events.
What you’ll need:

Middleware architectures/configurations and operations (such as Azure Logic Apps and Kubernetes) and Public/Private Cloud Hosting and caching technologies.
Understanding interfaces using APIs and related technologies with a microservices architecture.
Demonstrable, strong working knowledge of ITIL Service Management framework and process areas
Demonstrable capability in handling incident management.
Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management/executives.
Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people to enhance understanding and drive to decisions that lead to positive outcomes.
Progress Reporting – Methods and techniques for reporting progress and financial conformance against an agreed plan.
Managing a team of at least 2 direct reports and 7 members in platform management environment, including environment management, integration, patching, release management

Relevant systems knowledge (hotel or entertainment systems, booking systems and dynamic pricing)
Oracle Opera and the use of Public/private cloud technical architectures
