The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment have been approached by one of Scotland’s most prestigious hotel chains to assist them in the recruitment of a 12 month contractor to work in their payroll team whilst there is a period of long term, planned absenteeism.

The role will report into the head of finance and will be solely accountable for the groups payroll function. The organisation has a strong heritage in Scotland and has one of the most iconic hotels in the country.

The current role holder works remotely from their home, however we would expect applicants to be able to travel to the organisation when required and at short notice. As such we are seeking applicants who reside in either Dundee, St. Andrews, Perthshire, or Stirling. Candidates who live further away will be expected to travel to the head office in a day or subsidise over night stays themselves.

The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide payroll services to a multitude of entities which cover a 4 figure number of staff. The organisation has several systems that are used to monitor time and attendance, critical HR information as well as another bespoke system that process the payroll as well as a couple of other legacy systems. This role will be critical in administering all of these systems as well as payroll business as usual tasks.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Managing starter and leaver information in the HR system ensuring dates of employment are accurately maintained
Process of payroll documentation such as P45, P60, P11d etc
Calculation and audit of payroll calculations such as SSP, SMP, Pension, Employers/Employees NI, holiday pay and shift allowances
Assurance that the payroll calculations for hourly rates and hours worked are accurately calculated
Resolution of payroll queries as and when they arises
Assist in the improvement of processes and procedures to ensure an efficient department is maintained

The Requirements
We are seeking experience payroll professionals to apply for this role (minimum of 4 years’ experience in payroll) as well having a good understanding of the legislative requirements of running a payroll. Our client is exceptionally well regarded in the industry and as such we are seeking applicants who have a desire to go the extra mile for their colleagues and when on site, represent our client at the highest standards. The role, as previously stated, can be fully remote for the right applicant, however we are only wanting relatively local candidates to apply as traveling to the office will be required at short notice.

This is a 12 month assignment/contract and although there is no guarantee, we would expect exceptional applicants to be retained after the contract has completed, provided the economic and trading conditions allow.
